The highest bidder can still lose the lot if the reserve price was not met, and the platform can notify that bidder accordingly.

Being the highest bidder does not guarantee a sale where a reserve price applies.
If the reserve is not reached, the platform can send a no-sale notification to the highest bidder.
That message usually means no invoice will be issued because the sale did not conclude successfully.

Watch for a relist or a new sale format if you still want the item.
Do not try to bypass the platform to complete the transaction privately.
