VAT basics
- The platform expects the seller to state the VAT status correctly on the listing.
- VAT is applied to the goods or service sold where the item attracts VAT.
- Platform commission is treated separately and is not simply the same as VAT on the goods.
- If the VAT status on the listing is wrong, the invoice outcome will also be wrong, so it must be checked before publishing.
Practical tip
- Keep the VAT registration document up to date in your company profile.
- Treat slaughtered stock, machinery, and general products carefully because VAT often matters more in those categories than in live-animal trade.
